Instructional Design Professional Job

The Instructional Designer (ISD) plays a pivotal role in developing high-quality, modern learning solutions aligned to business needs. This role supports all GM functions—including Engineering, Safety, Human Resources, Finance, Corporate Learning, and Information Technology—by developing engaging, relevant learning solutions that improve performance and support business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Learning Strategy & Consulting: advise business partners on adult learning principles, conduct needs analyses, validate learning needs through interviews and focus groups, and align learning strategies with organizational goals.

Design & Development: design and develop learning experiences using ADDIE, SAM, rapid prototyping, action-based learning, and scenario-based learning; prepare design documents, objectives, assessments, and criteria for success; develop multi-modal learning assets including eLearning, ILT/VILT, videos, workshops, podcasts, and job aids; write or refine instructional materials, facilitator guides, scripts, and communication pieces.

Collaboration & Project Management: partner with SMEs, content writers, Learning Program Managers, coordinators, and project sponsors; manage projects using agile design approaches; support LMS setup and integration of learning materials.

Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or eLearning.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related field or equivalent experience.

Portfolio showcasing eLearning, ILT/VILT materials, scenario-based learning, action-based learning, and performance support tools.

Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and modern learning strategies.

Advanced proficiency in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline, Vyond, video editing software, and Microsoft Office.

Experience using AI for all aspects of training development (tools, scripting, etc.).

Ability to manage multiple projects accurately and with attention to detail.

Strong consulting, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Graphic design experience (visual storytelling, layout, branding), UX design or user-centered design experience, basic JavaScript or interactive scripting.

Experience with Action Mapping and Design Thinking.

Experience producing communication or promotional materials for learning.

This role is based remotely; if the selected candidate lives within a specific mile radius of a GM hub, they will be expected to report to the location three times a week. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
