AYA Oncology Experience Preferred But Not Required! Unit Information:

Medical Oncology with progressive care beds/pediatric patients.

High acuity of PCU and small amount of med surg

Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

18J is a 36 bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care.

Pediatric patients are cared for on this unit but are extremely rare and would likely be cared for by perm staff. Pediatric experience is NOT required to be agency RN here.

Required: High acuity PCU patient experience - Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls

Stryker beds

Continuous Bladder Irrigation

PCA

Requirements:

Overall 2 years of acute care nursing exp, with atleast 1 year of PCU experience

Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), ACLS & NIH

Ratio: 1:4-5 Med Surg Telemetry

Ratio: 1:3 PCU

Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

Previous travel experience preferred.

Feeding tube care and management

Accessing Ports

Blood Product Administration

Central line care/management

Peripheral Line Care/Management

PICC line management

Starting IVs

Heparin Protocols

Manage Cardia drips- no titration

Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac

External CPAP/BIPAP

High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Interpretation of ABGs

Nasal Cannula

Tracheostomy Management

Skills Preferred:

Management of dysrhythmias

IV insulin protocols

Titration of Insulin drips

Phlebotomy

Chemotherapy Administration

Monitoring Chemotherapy

Wound Care/Wound Vac

Arterial line management

Surgical drains

Non-invasive airway management
