Flight Nurse/Paramedic – Redding, California

PHI Health seeks an experienced Flight Nurse/Paramedic to provide emergency medical care during air and ground transport. The role supports PHI’s mission of delivering rapid, high‑quality medical services to patients across the region.

Job Description

The Flight Nurse/Paramedic will work in a 2/5 or 15/13 rotation, performing advanced patient care during transport and maintaining continuous safety and communication standards.

Responsibilities

Perform specialized assessment, diagnosis, therapy, and emergency treatment of patients transported by rotor‑wing, fixed‑wing, or ground.

Document accurate and complete patient assessment, treatment, stabilization, and transport data.

Record billing information for all patient transports.

Maintain effective, timely communication between management, internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in activities supporting public relations and internal outreach efforts.

Maintain knowledge of the flight paramedic role through mandatory meetings, chart reviews, equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, and continuing education sessions.

Complete all annual recurrent competency requirements.

Maintain an active paramedic certification and all other certifications required by policy.

Function clinically under the licensure of the program’s Medical Director.

Report indirectly to the program’s Manager of Clinical Services and the National Director of Clinical Standards.

Ensure compliance with regulations and scope of practice of the local Department of Health Services.

Qualifications

Active RN license in the state of employment.

Minimum of three years (five preferred) of current critical care/emergency experience.

Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNATC, TNCC, ITLS, or PHTLS certifications; NRP preferred and instructor certifications a plus.

Compliance with CFRN within twenty‑four months of hire.

Flight or transport experience preferred.

Successful completion of the PHI Air Medical Group education/orientation program.

Effective human‑relations skills for interacting with all levels of personnel and external customers.

Compliance with clinical personnel weight restriction limits for flight (≤ 235 lbs).

Basic computer skills for e‑mail, electronic charting, and related tasks.

Clear verbal communication skills, including radio operation.

Passing a pre‑placement physical exam (strength, flexibility, lift‑to‑100 lb test) and drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits

Base annual earnings: $97,452 to $139,208 (approx. $28.73–$41.01 per hour).

Location bonus up to 25 %.

Potential total annual earnings including location bonus: $121,815 to $174,010.

Sign‑on bonus up to $125,000 (California candidates eligible for up to $62,500, with overtime calculated up to the full amount).
