As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of system components for high temperature gas reactors (HTGR's) and light water reactors (LWR's) ranging from space to terrestrial applications. You will work with a matrixed organization consisting of engineers of various disciplines, data scientists, technicians and project management teams. Your Day to Day as a Mechanical Design Engineer:

Perform detail component, system and design engineering activities including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.

Perform component design, with an understanding of incorporating assembly, testing and inspection of mechanical components and system functions within the design.

Implement design control and configuration control concepts.

Implement concepts of design for manufacturing and system operations.

Learn a variety of new procedures, processes and tools while maintaining various stages of production.

Specify procurement requirements for mechanical components or system operability.

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required.

Must have experience in nuclear reactor core components, reactor vessel, reactivity control devices, and reactor vessel head components.

Must have SolidWorks 3D modeling experience.

Knowledge of GD&T principles and application is required.

Must have general knowledge of project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.).

Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.

S. citizen.

Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
