Banking service banker

Summary / Objectives The Universal Banker serves as a full-service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The position operates in the dual capacity of a Teller and FSR providing exceptional customer service in both transactional and account management. The Universal Banker seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the bank.

Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Service Standards.
Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank.
Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues.
Seeks opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the goals for this position.
Maintains a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and Bank Secrecy Act.
Develops a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enrolls customers in self‑service options.
Teller Duties Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Assists in guiding and training new tellers (when required).
Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes (when applicable).
Cash checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits and in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Sells certified checks.
Balances transactions daily.
Services/balances ATM (when required).
Utilizes the branch capture system.
Follows policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain a proper workflow.
Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and understands the function and operation of security devices.
FSR Duties Opens new deposit accounts and explains products and financial services offered by the bank.
Handles stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
Explains policies and procedures as necessary, keeping in mind customer unfamiliarity.
Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion.
Directs customers with difficult problems to other sources for assistance.
Considers problems and complaints as opportunities to satisfy the customer and promote additional services.
Shows sincere appreciation for each customer’s time and business.
Provides business card when appropriate.
Ensures branch records, reports, and correspondence resulting from customer development attempts are correct, timely and properly distributed.
Universal Banker Functions Requires one year of teller or cash‑handling experience and six months of customer‑relationship building or sales experience.
Demonstrated expertise in the Teller II and basic FSR job functions.
Additional responsibilities may include vault or back‑up vault duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Cash handling, sales, customer service; previous banking experience preferred.
Specific Knowledge: Good interpersonal and computer skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Additional training may be required depending on experience.
Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods.
Must effectively read and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations.
Work Environment The position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation, located inside a cooled and heated facility with access to a break room or restroom during breaks.
Travel Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.
