Performs complex (journey-level) work in building maintenance repair and electrical equipment and circuits. Installs, replaces and maintains electrical systems, apparatus, components of machinery and equipment. Reports to the Civil Engineer Maintenance Supervisor and works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Ensure all electrical systems meet safe y codes and support the integrity of secure environments, including data centers, communication hubs, and operational facilities.
Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and facilities teams to align electrical infrastructure with agency-wide security frameworks (e.g., Document electrical configurations, service logs, and compliance activities in accordance with TMD policy.
Install and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, circuits and electrical components of machinery and equipment.
Inspect, test and troubleshoot electrical equipment, lighting and power circuits.
Replace faulty circuit breakers, fuses, switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems.
Mount motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits.
Repair magnetic starters and remote start-stop stations.
Operate and maintain high- and low-voltage switches.
Install rigid, thin wall and flexible conduit.
Wire circuits and clean and tighten low voltage switch gears.
Plan the layout of electrical wiring to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
Assist in the maintenance and renovation of electrical service.
Attend work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook.
May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters, and other missions, to include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent (GED) is required.
Vocational or special training in an electrical trade is preferred.
One (1) year of full-time experience in residential/industrial electrical maintenance is required. Experience in operating, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment is required. Experience using Microsoft Outlook or other electronic email system is required.
REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE: A licensed apprentice electrician is required. Electrician certification and/or training are preferred. Journeyman's certification is preferred. The ability to obtain a Texas Driver’s License will be required within the first 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.
The selected candidate must pass federal security background investigation, including a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. S. is required under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
