FullTime Police Officers

The City of Blair is now accepting applications for a full-time Lateral Police Officer. The current salary range is $64,937.60 - $91,000, with 12-hour shifts and a generous benefits package included. Police Officers patrol the City of Blair, enforce local state and federal laws, and provide community service and protection.

For a Lateral Police Officer position with the City of Blair, candidates must possess a post-certification or have recently graduated from a law enforcement training academy to be considered. The City of Blair is also offering a $3,000 sign‑on bonus, 48 hours of leave available immediately upon hire and officers will earn vacation time commensurate with years of service. Nebraska Certified Police Officers or Law Enforcement officers certified in other states who meet reciprocity guidelines set by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center may transfer laterally to the Blair Police Department. They will need to provide a copy of certification or license from the basic academy that must be submitted with the application and must submit the basic training curriculum and any additional certificates and relevant experience.

Handles violations including speeding, traffic signal & sign violations, driving complaints, parking violations, D.Responds to radio and telephone dispatch calls including alarm calls, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, and domestic violence. Takes necessary action including, an inspection of property for damage or break‑in evidence, traffic control, dispute mediation and resolution, violation ticketing, and arrest.

Inspects local business and residential buildings for signs of burglary including open doors, suspicious noises, etc.

Investigates criminal activities providing preliminary information and assistance as necessary for ongoing investigations for both adults and juveniles.
