Plumber I

Performs plumbing duties including installation, repair, and maintenance of all pipes, pumps and related equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
Reports to: Plumbing Inspector
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Under the supervision of a Licensed Plumber, the Plumber I position performs the following duties:

Repairs and/or replaces plumbing equipment including, but not limited to pumps, domestic water systems, sewer systems, drains, and commercial/residential plumbing accessories.
Oversees the maintenance of competition pool and outdoor fountains.
Secures necessary supplies and materials from the warehouse as required.
Completes planned maintenance on all equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two years' experience as journeyman plumber. Job related vocational training may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Must be licensed by the State of Texas Board of Plumbing Examiners and maintain licensing during employment.

All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.
Knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations governing the plumbing trade.
Ability to effectively communicate orally, both in person and by telephone.
Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

The employee may be required to travel. Must be able to work off ladders higher than 6 feet and / or scaffolding. May be required to work in conditions including cold, heat, temperature swings, noise, outdoors and indoors. May be required to work in locations that involve hazardous environments requiring protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust and noise.
Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
