Job Summary

Ascend Building Systems is seeking a skilled Mechanical Installer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the installation, replacement, and repair of mechanical systems — including boilers, hydronic piping, pumps, valves, and related HVAC/mechanical equipment — on federal and commercial job sites. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable in a fast-paced field environment.

Responsibilities

Install, replace, and repair mechanical equipment including boilers, water heaters, pumps, valves, and piping systems

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine installation requirements

Perform pipefitting, brazing, soldering, and welding as required (steel and copper piping)

Install and support ancillary components: expansion tanks, air separators, circulators, backflow preventers, and gauges

Coordinate with BAS/controls technicians to ensure proper integration of mechanical equipment with building automation systems

Perform pressure testing, system flushing, and startup procedures per manufacturer and code requirements

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards

Complete daily job reports, material tracking, and other required documentation

Communicate effectively with supervisors, other trades, and clients on job site progress

Travel to job sites as required, including occasional multi-day or out-of-town projects

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in mechanical installation, pipefitting, or HVAC mechanical work (industry certifications a plus)

Working knowledge of hydronic heating systems, boilers, and related mechanical equipment

Ability to read blueprints, piping diagrams, and specifications

Experience with steel and copper piping methods (threading, welding, grooved coupling, brazing) preferred

Basic understanding of BAS/controls integration a plus, but not required

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Ability to pass a background check (required for government/military installation projects)

OSHA 10/30 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain

Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly

Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, mechanical rooms, and at heights

Comfortable using ladders, lifts, and hand/power tools

Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods
