POSITION SUMMARY The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, physician, or other authorized healthcare provider. The LPN is responsible for delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient nursing care while following established hospital policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

The LPN works collaboratively with nurses, providers, nursing assistants, and other members of the healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide direct nursing care to patients according to established standards, policies, and procedures.

Obtain and document vital signs, patient information, and other clinical data.

Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within the scope of LPN practice.

Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly report significant findings to the appropriate nurse or provider.

Assist with patient assessments and contribute to the development and implementation of the patient's plan of care.

Perform treatments, procedures, and other nursing interventions within the scope of practice.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, procedures, and other aspects of care as directed.

Assist physicians and registered nurses with examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Collect specimens and perform or assist with diagnostic testing as appropriate.

Maintain infection prevention and control practices in accordance with hospital policies.

Participate in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and members of the healthcare team.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.

QUALIFICATIONS Education Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.

Licensure Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Louisiana.

Experience Previous healthcare or nursing experience preferred.

Experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of practical nursing principles, procedures, and standards of care.

Ability to provide safe and effective patient care within the LPN scope of practice.

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple patient care responsibilities.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and compassionate service.

Ability to lift, move, and reposition patients with appropriate assistance and equipment.

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull as required to provide patient care.

Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and emergency situations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or varying shifts based on department needs.
