Job Description

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

Working under the direction of the principal or assigned evaluator, administers the classroom in accordance with School Board policies and uses instructional and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. Classroom teachers fulfill duties and responsibilities associated with instruction, supervision, classroom management, student assessment and evaluation, communication and collaboration, and extracurricular involvement.

Teachers are held accountable for meeting the TAP Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities Performance Standards, research-based standards based on twenty-six indicators and operationalized against a five-point scale rubric. Teachers are also responsible for the academic growth of their students.

The Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities Performance Standards are divided into four domains. Descriptors for each indicator may be found in the TAP Rubric.

Domain 1: Instruction

This domain includes 12 indicators:

Standards and Objectives: Planning effective lessons aligned to the standards is dependent upon the teacher’s ability to create and communicate clearly defined learning outcomes or objectives appropriate for the students.

Motivating Students: Organize and present content in a manner that motivates students to learn.

Presenting Instructional Content: Communicate performance expectations in a concise and logically sequenced manner.

Lesson Structure and Pacing: Effectively segment the lesson to allocate sufficient time to all parts.

Activities and Materials: Use variety and appropriateness of activities and materials.

Questioning: Ask effective questions and lead students in responding.

Academic Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to support student learning.

Grouping Students: Arrange instructional groups for the lesson and hold them accountable.

Teacher Content Knowledge: Demonstrate deep knowledge of content and link to other ideas.

Teacher Knowledge of Students: Understand students’ learning styles and interests.

Thinking: Implement analytical, practical, creative, and research-based thinking.

Problem Solving: Provide opportunities for multi-solution problem solving.

Domain 2: Planning

This domain includes 3 indicators:

Instructional Plans: Develop strong lesson plans.

Student Work: Align student work to pre‑ and post‑tests and state standards.

Assessment: Plan and use effective assessment.

Domain 3: Environment

This domain includes 4 indicators:

Expectations: Set high expectations and model behavior.

Managing Student Behavior: Manage behavior effectively.

Environment: Create a safe learning environment with accessible resources.

Respectful Culture: Establish a respectful classroom climate.

Domain 4: Professionalism

This domain includes 4 indicators:

Growing and Developing Professionally: Participate in PD and implement new learning.

Reflecting on Teaching: Assess lesson effectiveness and identify improvement actions.

Community Involvement: Support school activities and events.

School Responsibilities: Accept leadership responsibilities and assist colleagues.

Other Performance Responsibilities

Administer classroom according to Caddo Parish School Board policies and regulations.

Accept duties related to administrational/management, curricular, and extra‑curricular aspects.

Work collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and stakeholders.

Report promptly and maintain good attendance.

Attend meetings related to student instruction and professional development.

Complete mandatory training such as Project Read and ACT 260.

Appear neat, dress appropriately, and maintain professional conduct.

Accept additional responsibilities as assigned.

Professional Conduct

Employee acknowledges that they must maintain a high standard of professional conduct. Breach includes neglect of duty, dishonesty, and actions contrary to CPSB policy or unlawful activities.

Minimum Qualifications

United States citizen or authorized alien; other requirements outlined in Louisiana Bulletin 746.

Personal Characteristics

Physical and mental stamina, ability to perform job functions, tasks, and duties; maintain health to report to work; and ability to plan, organize.

Terms of Employment

172 days per term, or as stated in contract or agreement.

Reports to

School Principal and/or Assistant Principal or Assigned Evaluator.

Salary: $47,365 Per Year
