Head of Project Management (Construction)

Our client is a leading specialty Interiors Contractor based in Bridgewater, New Jersey, providing construction solutions for complex, high-end commercial interior projects throughout the New Jersey and NYC region. Known for its commitment to craftsmanship, quality execution, and client service, our client partners with general contractors, developers, architects, and building owners to deliver exceptional workplace, healthcare, life sciences, hospitality, and specialty interior environments.
Project Management & Execution
Manage 3-6 active projects simultaneously, ranging from $500K to $20M in value.
Oversee projects from award through closeout, ensuring successful execution of all contractual requirements.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and project milestones.
Monitor project progress and proactively address challenges affecting scope, schedule, or budget.
Ensure all work is executed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, architects, and consultants.
Lead project meetings and provide regular updates regarding progress, risks, and milestones.
Coordinate effectively with field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal leadership.
Financial Management
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and profitability reports.
Review and process subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and pay applications.
Track project costs and identify opportunities to improve project performance.
Manage billing, collections, and project financial closeout activities.
Ensure projects achieve targeted margin and profitability goals.
Coordinate material procurement and subcontractor buyout activities.
Manage lead times and logistics for specialty architectural and interior products.
Collaborate with field leadership to ensure labor and material resources align with project schedules.
Field & Construction Coordination
Work closely with Superintendents and field personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
Conduct site visits to assess progress, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Assist in resolving construction challenges, design issues, and unforeseen field conditions.
Support project turnover, punch list completion, and final closeout processes.
Risk Management & Documentation
Maintain complete and accurate project documentation.
Review contracts, drawings, and specifications to identify project risks and opportunities.
Manage RFIs, submittals, change order requests, and project correspondence.
Ensure compliance with safety programs, company policies, and contractual obligations.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • 3-8 years of project management experience within construction, interiors, specialty contracting, or related industries.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scheduling, and project controls.
  • Knowledge of subcontract administration, procurement, budgeting, and contract management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Bluebeam, Procore, and project management platforms.

Experience in commercial interiors, drywall, ceilings, millwork, architectural specialties, or related subcontracting disciplines.
Prior experience working with General Contractors and high-profile commercial interior construction projects.
