Direct Support Professional - PRN
Immediate positions available - Memphis, TN Area $15.68 an hour

The primary purpose of the Direct Support Professional is to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need support to lead a safe, self-directed life to participate fully in their communities.

To assist individuals with intellectual disabilities (mild to severe) in leading a self-directed life and contributing to the community. To aid with activities of daily living if needed, and encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide support at home, work, and other community places.

Direct Support Professional Skills
The job of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a very significant one. It is important to have compassion, creativity, and integrity when supporting our individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A DSP will assist a person with developmental disabilities to have a meaningful, safe, and self‑directed life, with skills including the following but not limited to:

Provide quality care of individuals in their home

Ensure supports and services are person‑centered

Provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner dietary options for individuals daily

Promote physical health and emotional well‑being

Provide responsible and accountable financial management

Maintain confidentiality

Drive individual to doctor’s appointments, school, work, and community‑based activities

Support individual to form new relationships

Maintain existing relationships

Document daily reports electronically

Part Time: 8am‑8pm or 8pm‑8am

Duties

Reading, writing, and carrying out directions

Charting or taking notes for others to review

Providing companionship and supportive listening

Reporting changes in the health or status of the client

Feeding clients

Maintaining patient's health equipment

Responding to emergency situations

Administering medication

Transporting client to appointments

Facilitating community and recreational outings, including transport

Providing support with hobbies, studies, and social activities

Must have a valid driver's license and dependable vehicle
