Job DetailsDescriptionDigestive Health Center of Alliance is currently searching for a Full-Time Charge Nurse. Digestive Health Center of Alliance is an independent ambulatory surgery center that offers comfortable care for a variety of GI procedures, such as an upper endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy. For more information, please access our website: No nights No weekends RN required POSITION SUMMARY: Works collaboratively with Center Director to oversee the supervision and direction of single specialty ambulatory surgical center, according to the centers policies, procedures, and objectives. Responsible for management of all aspects of personnel, education of personnel, and administrative duties. Works closely with the Center Director and center staff in coordinating patient and staff service functions. QUALIFICATIONS: Current RN license requiredBachelor's degree preferredAt least one (1) year of healthcare-management experience preferredAt least one (1) year experience in an ASC preferredCurrent CPR certification and ACLS certification (provided if not certified)Evidence of leadership qualities and integrityStrong ethical characterLanguage skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American EnglishComputer literacy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations: Monitors FTE utilization and makes recommendations to promote cost-effective man-hour practicesOversees the comprehensive and informative orientation programs for new employees in all clinical areasDirects and participates in Center committees, meetings, in-services, and activitiesEnsures center is clean and facility is maintained per policy, accreditation, and regulatory complianceEnsures equipment is clean, disinfected, sterile (as required), and operational at all timesEnsures continuing education for clinical staff members as neededMonitors operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operationPrepares or delegates staffing schedules in accordance with vacations, holidays, daily personnel assignments and duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient careEnsures staff are cross-trained (as appropriate) to provide a productive and efficient work environment for all areasReviews daily time and attendance sheets and maintains attendance logsObserves and evaluates the performance of all center personnel and works to continuously improve the quality of care and servicesCounsels center personnel and makes recommendations for salary adjustments, promotions, and/or terminationsEvaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of careShares knowledge gained in continuing education with center personnelRegular and predictable attendanceAttends all required education Medical Staff Maintains open line of communication with Center Director, Staff, Medical Director, Anesthesia Director, and QAPI ChairmanMaintains confidentiality of medical staff/allied health employee files Regulatory Remains current on applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and professional and accrediting-body standardsSubmits required reports on a timely basis Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI): Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the center's adopted quality assessment, performance improvement programAssists in the maintenance, education, and implementation of the centers policies and procedures to the Governing Board, the QAPI committee (as required) and the wider Healthcare teamAssists in the implementation and maintenance of the center's adopted compliance programActively contributes to the QAPI process and identifies his or her own role and contributionsServes on the Quality Assessment, Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee Safety Implements best practices and regulations adopted, to provide safety in the workplaceMonitors the Center's physical environment and initiates methods for maintaining safety, comfort, cleanliness, and efficienciesMonitors the care, cleaning, and required maintenance of equipment to maintain proper working conditions. Identifies and evaluates need for items relative to trends, center personnel requests, and positive patient outcomesWorks with the Safety Officer to resolve observed or suspected safety violations and hazards to ensure policy/procedure compliance Maintenance and Materials Management Identifies need for new/different items, in regard to trends and center needs, within budget allowances, to promote cost effectiveness, and minimize wastePromotes cost containment and efficient use of Center resources, utilizing Materials Management principalsEnsures center is maintained to provide a comfortable and safe working environmentChairs or participates on designated committeesEnsures adequate inventory and assist in new product/equipment implementationMonitors and verifies required materials management documentation (i.e., are current and completeEnsures appropriate purchasing practices are followed Financial Promotes cost containment and efficient use of Center resourcesConducts and analyzes cost benefit analysis to identify potential cost-effective improvements and make recommendationsApproves payroll submissions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and forms to understand abstract and concrete variables. 6-8 hours per dayAbility to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds in weightAbility to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously without "giving out" or fatiguingAbility to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials, lift or transport patients, prepare medical procedure rooms, or set up patient care equipmentAbility to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one positionAbility to keep or regain your body balance or stay uprightAbility to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breathAbility to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appearsSpecific vision abilities for close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Center may require decreased lighting to meet patient care needs or procedure requirements, such as laser rooms and some OR/Procedure roomsAbility to work with medical and office equipment, some of which will have moving partsNoise level is usually quiet to moderateMay have exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and materials or toxic chemicals and cleaning solutionsProcedure rooms are often small, and due to equipment may have little room to work around and may necessitate reaching, pulling, pushing.
