The Oasis Free Clinic is a free medical and dental clinic serving uninsured adults with low incomes who live in Midcoast Maine. Our small team works closely with medical and dental volunteers to provide care rooted in compassion, respect, dignity, and quality. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact in the community.

Part Time (20 hours per week)

Documents existing restorations and identifies notable areas of possible decay or disease for dentist review; Takes dental x-rays to determine the extent of decay and disease

Updates and reviews patient medical histories, highlighting significant findings for dentist review

Provides patient education on oral hygiene techniques and answers patient questions

Practices universal precautions and adheres to sterilization and infection control procedures

Maintains dental equipment and clinical areas

Performs related duties as required, including dental assisting when needed

Summary: The Registered Dental Hygienist role is responsible for the direct provision of dental hygiene and appropriate preventative services to oral patients of the clinic, as well as providing appropriate oral health information to individuals and groups.

Graduate of an accredited School of Dental Hygiene required.

• License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license in Dental Hygiene required. Current applicable state(s) Dental Radiographer license required or must receive within three months of hire.
• Experience: One year of clinical experience as a dental hygienist preferred.
