Law Enforcement Lieutenant - 79000123 Salary: $2,307.69 to $2,884.62 Biweekly

This position is a sworn career service position located within the Bureau of Law Enforcement, Orlando District Office. To be considered for this position, the applicant must have passed the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) law enforcement examination or equivalency by the application deadline.

Our Organization and Mission: The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida, including receipt and processing of license applications; collection and auditing of taxes and fees paid by licensees; and enforcement of the laws and regulation of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to Chapters 210, 561-565, 567-569, Florida Statutes.

The Work You Will Do: This is an opportunity to serve as a state law enforcement officer supervisor in Florida. Employees demonstrating advanced investigative and critical thinking skills normally excel within this Bureau. Employees are challenged with shifting seamlessly from regulatory investigators to law enforcement officers during their investigative activities. The Bureau seeks applicants interested in investigating complex crimes while deterring underage access to alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products. These positions require team members to work some nights and weekends as necessary.

This position serves as a law enforcement squad supervisor for the Bureau of Enforcement. Ensure that the squad agents complete their assigned percentages of mandatory SYNAR surveys for tobacco products, alcohol surveys, issuance of tobacco citations to underage persons for possession of tobacco products, arrests for possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons and conduct beverage and tobacco inspections, towards meeting the division goals.

Perform special duties and projects as assigned by the assigned Law Enforcement Captain, the Law Enforcement Major, the Chief and Assistant Chiefs of Enforcement, the Assistant Division Director and the Director.

Demonstrate excellent supervisory, managerial and administrative skills.

Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with employees, licensees, state, unions and local law enforcement organizations.

Must be knowledgeable of and experienced in law enforcement principles and techniques.

Must be able to administer and enforce policies, procedures and regulations related to the core mission of the bureau and division.

Skilled in using restraining devices and firearms.

Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ability to analyze and interpret law enforcement data.

Preference will be awarded to candidates with past or current regulatory or investigative experience. Preference will be awarded to candidates who are bilingual, as deemed necessary by the hiring office.

A minimum of four (4) years of full-time law enforcement experience is required.

Must possess and maintain law enforcement certification standards pursuant to Section 943.13, F.Must reside within 70 air miles of the Orlando District Office at the time of employment by the time of hire.

Must be available to travel often and in emergency situations with little to no advance notice.

Must have successfully completed or be able to complete within one year of appointment, one or more courses addressing leadership and/or law enforcement administration at a level of responsibility similar or beyond the requirements of a Lieutenant.
