Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and night shift availability.
Details

• Acute care hospital setting in an LDRP unit with 15 beds serving both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum patients
• Patient population includes obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and pregnancies complicated by hypertension or diabetes
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3 general and 1:1 for actively laboring patients
• Approximately 400 births per year
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin, Mag, and Procardia
• Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts, 6pm–7am
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required based on unit need
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating is extremely rare and limited to sitting or task-only assignments in critical staffing situations
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Active BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Driver's license required — used to verify permanent residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 2–3 shifts of floor orientation
A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure results in contract termination
The unit holds Blue Distinction+ designation for patient care with high patient experience scores and is breastfeeding-friendly
A charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result to contract termination
Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; those who worked PRN through an outside staffing firm will be considered
RTO requests of 7 days or fewer for the 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
