Registered Dietitian

As a Registered Dietitian, you'll develop and help implement thoughtful, customized care plans that support individuals with autism at every age and stage of life. Through collaborative connections that you build with our medical, residential, school, food service, and other ancillary staff, you will ensure that children and adults are getting the nutrition and dietary support needed in context of sensory sensitivities and medical profiles. And, in protecting the safety and health of residents and students, you will also help give families and loved ones peace of mind, making this far more than a clinical role; What You Will Do as a Registered Dietitian:
You will oversee the performance of the DT/Nutritionist and the completion of nutrition assessments.
You will serve as a member of each individual's Treatment Team and provide input on issues related to nutrition and/or dietary concerns, assisting in researching available alternate food choices when necessary.
You will assess and evaluate each individual's dietary intake for adequacy, monitoring weight changes and applying nutrition interventions as needed.
You will work with experts from various disciplines across the agency to ensure that safe, high-quality nutrition and dietary services are being provided to children and adults with autism.
You will monitor and evaluate aspects of the agency to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to nutrition and dietary services, Child Nutrition Program (CNP), and food sanitation.
You will follow the procedures outlined in the agency's Special Diets and Nutritional Therapies Standard Operating Procedure (HCS-15) to ensure appropriate staff training is completed for medically prescribed diets.
You will conduct staff training on nutrition-related issues and related compliance matters.
You will assist with the development of all cycle menus and be the go-to resource for the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Food Service Supervisor, and other staff ensuring the delivery and consumption of quality, nutrient-rich, and safe foods.
You will maintain nutrition files for each individual per agency direction in electronic format and/or hardcopy record, housing them in the Nutrition office.
You will coordinate and/or participate in nutrition and health related meetings and special functions.
You will review pre-admission records and provide input on whether or not the agency can accommodate a prospective student and/or resident's nutrition and or dietary needs.
You will assist with other duties as requested by the Health Services Coordinator, Director of Children's Services, and/or the COO.
You will assist the kitchen staff by serving lunch and supporting other miscellaneous tasks to ensure a smooth operation of meal services and to promote a healthy eating environment.
You will help provide individuals with autism the nourishment that helps them thrive!

Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, training, and collaboration skills.
Solid knowledge of nutrition interventions for sensory sensitivities.
A commitment to mentoring, coaching, and training colleagues and family members, and to doing what you can to keep residents and students nourished.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Food Service Management.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, conferred by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and New York and State License for Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN) issued by the New York State Education Department are both required. Extensive knowledge of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) and New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) regulations
- Proficiency in computer skills (Email, Word, Excel)
- That you obtain and subsequently maintain qualifications in all health, safety, and crisis intervention procedures of the agency, such as First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R and medication administration certification.
- Completion of agency training.
- Fulfillment of all mandated reporting requirements, compliance with agency policies, and adherence to organizational protocols.
