Job Description
A large-scale, professionally managed farm operation in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Irrigation Specialist to oversee and optimize irrigation systems across extensive row crop production acreage. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical irrigation expertise, agricultural operations experience, and the ability to manage irrigation scheduling and infrastructure in a high-output farming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily irrigation operations across large-scale agricultural acreage
Monitor and optimize irrigation scheduling based on crop demand, soil conditions, and weather data
Troubleshoot and repair center pivots, pumps, filtration systems, valves, and related infrastructure
Develop preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime
Oversee water usage efficiency and support sustainability initiatives
Coordinate with farm management, agronomy teams, and equipment operators
Maintain accurate irrigation records, reporting, and compliance documentation
Ensure all irrigation systems operate safely and efficiently throughout the growing season
Qualifications
- 3+ years of irrigation experience in large-scale agriculture
- Strong knowledge of center pivot systems, pumps, fertigation, and water management practices
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical irrigation components
- Ability to interpret soil moisture data, weather conditions, and crop irrigation requirements
- Familiarity with GPS, telemetry, and precision agriculture technologies preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Agricultural degree or irrigation certification preferred, but not required with relevant experience
