RN - Emergency Department (ER/ED)

Shift Details: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM, 3 shifts per week, 36 scheduled hours.

Job Order Details: Start date 08/17/2026, end date 11/16/2026, duration 13 weeks.

Unit Information: Emergency Department at Valley Regional Medical Center, located at 100 E Alton Gloor Boulevard, Brownsville, TX 78521, Floor: ER, Building: C.

Number of Beds: 22, Number of Staff: 55.

Patient Ratios: 4:1.

EMR: Meditech.

Typical hiring profile:

Skill Set: Must have minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department experience in a high-acuity setting, current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (TNCC preferred), strong triage and critical thinking skills, trauma and cardiac alert experience, including care of STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients.

Preferred or nice to have: Experience with Meditech documentation system, trauma and cardiac alert experience, including care of STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

List typical procedures performed on unit(s): IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, wound care, moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions or cardioversion, assisting with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response, care of stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health patients, transport preparation and coordination for higher levels of care, triage assessment and prioritization based on ESI guidelines, isolation and infection control protocols, documentation and reassessment in fast paced environments.
