Operations Engineering at DCS encompasses Project and Mechanical Engineers that perform all engineering activities from receipt of contract through commissioning and close‑out of a project. We pride ourselves on creativity, problem‑solving, solid engineering techniques, and getting stuff done.

As a Mechanical Engineer, Distribution and Fulfillment you’ll apply your knowledge of engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems. You will be responsible for creating drawing sets that communicate the design to all stakeholders, including customers during firm engineering, building officials for permitting, and suppliers and subcontractors for their design and installation. You will contribute to a project team and report to an engineering manager. You will periodically take an active role in person when working with customers during design. Review and apply customer specifications to design

Participate in firm engineering meetings with the customers and suppliers; Support in person meetings with customers or vendors near the DCS office (Franklin, TN) and occasionally in a customer’s office or job site

Produce detailed mechanical installation drawings

Create detailed Bills of Material for purchasing equipment

Work with vendors to review equipment drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements

Produce and/or compile installation details, including supplier installation drawings and manuals, for the field

Travel to job sites to verify field conditions

Report drawing status to the Project Engineer as required maintaining the project schedule

Create and maintain CAD files

May occasionally design parts or platforms required for material handling system

Provide other required engineering tasks as necessary

Travel up to 25%

You have a BS in a technical discipline (ME, EE, other engineering/CAD)

You have 4-6 years of experience with projects in the distribution and fulfillment space

You have a solid knowledge of drafting & design standards

You excel in collaborative in person environment as well as a remote setting, and are excited to be a part of our local team of experts

You’re proficient in AutoCAD & and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

You’re flexible and able to transition between several projects

You’re more excited about the success of your team than your own personal success
