Opportunity This role will provide instruction and support to DeVry University's Advantage Academy high school population in Chicago, IL. DeVry University’s Advantage Academy helps qualified Chicago Public School students take college courses—and earn an Associate Degree—while earning a high school diploma at the same time. Location is 1900 W. Lawrence Avenue Chicago, IL (Ravenswood area). Classes run from 9-12pm or 12-3pm CST. Courses meet twice a week for eight weeks (daytime). Face‑to‑face interaction is blended with technology (such as online discussions and online assignments) for an enhanced learning environment. Commitment is on a course‑by‑course basis.
Responsibilities Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e‑mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weighting of various evaluation categories.
Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provides timely feedback to students.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications A terminal degree (PhD, DBA, JD, Ed.D.) is required for all faculty positions (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching).
Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Administration, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation.
Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.
Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
Pay Pay may vary in most states from $1500‑$2700 per 8‑week session.
Pay in the states of AZ, CA, IN and PA is paid at an hourly rate of either $22.00/hour or $23.50/hour.
