Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Redding, California.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/15/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 15, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring trauma, neuro-critical care, and ICP monitoring experience.Details\n \n Acute care Level 2 Trauma ICU/Trauma ICU unit with 30 beds\n Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2, with 90% of the time at 1:2\n 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend\n RNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors and sedation\n Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7, charge nurse does not take patient assignments\n 1 unit tech covers all 30 beds, primarily performing secretarial duties\n Intensivist coverage in house 24/7\n Respiratory therapist assigned to ICU 24/7, using Hamilton ventilators\n GE telemetry monitors used; unit secretary runs strips but RN must interpret them\n Uses Cerner EMR\n Self-scheduling available but subject to manager review; schedules made about 6 weeks in advance\n Travelers are first to be moved for scheduling needs\n Float requirements include PCU, CICU, telemetry, or medsurg units; ICU patients in CICU will not include open heart cases\n No call or standby requirements for travelers\n Requirements\n \n Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted\n Current BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred (required after 6 months if assignment extends beyond that)\n NIHSS certification required\n 2-3 years of ICU experience required\n Trauma experience required\n Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies required; candidates without this must have experience with post-TPA patients\n Previous travel experience preferred\n Must be able to interpret telemetry strips\n Copy of driver's license required for consideration\n Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility\n Additional Information\n \n Fast-paced unit requiring strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to ask for help when needed\n Telemetry, L&D, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia test onsite on day one (Pass/Fail)\n RNs will also complete a Pass/Fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation\n One day of unit-specific orientation provided, with additional time available if needed\n Navy scrub color required\n Hospital has a robust interventional radiology program\n Holiday RTO may be considered but cannot be guaranteed\n Facility is traveler-friendly and welcomes first-time travelers with strong prior experience at large, fast-paced facilities\n Candidates with 2 years or less experience and minimal travel experience will not be considered unless they have excellent experience at large, fast-paced facilities\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-749336.
