ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
An experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse is needed for a specialized role in a 14-bed ICU unit for a 13-week night contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telemetry and experience with various medical diagnoses, including alcohol withdrawal, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gastrointestinal bleed, drug overdose, and COVID-19. There may also be occasional surgical patients, specifically those requiring video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive patient care in an intensive care setting.
Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Monitor pulmonary artery lines (Swan Ganz) and manage continuous IV sedation.
Administer procedural sedation as required.
Collaborate with the code team and rapid response team as part of the ICU staff.
Work with intensivists during the day and nurse practitioners during night shifts.
Patient Population

Post-surgical cases: carotid endarterectomy (CEA), VATS, and other surgical interventions.
Medical cases: patients with ARDS, requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive medications, arterial lines, and chest tube management.
Shift Requirements
The position requires a night schedule consisting of 4 shifts, each lasting 12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15.
Qualifications

Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
Telemetry experience is essential.
Prior ICU experience is highly preferred.
Familiarity with CERNER systems is a plus.

The typical patient-to-nurse ratio in the ICU is 1:1 or 1:2, ensuring focused and attentive care for each patient.
