The Buyer II is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the Company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Buyer II position combines both the function of Purchasing and Materials Planning. Under moderate supervision, actively support Alamo Group and AGAA objectives by ensuring best value, delivery performance and quality for goods, services and production materials required by the Company. Research market forces that drive cost and delivery performance for assigned commodities.
Enter and update supply chain parameters, purchase orders and all pertinent information into the JDE ERP system. Actively support morning production meetings; Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight terms and any other issue pertaining to cost with assigned supply base. Provide longer term forecasts or supplier agreements under direction of Purchasing Director.
When necessary, work with Bush Hog Quality to collect 8D information when issues occur. Ensure that production material has passed ISIR if required, and each supplier knows and agrees with launch volumes and timing. Take appropriate steps to manage inventory levels to support Company objectives. Track and graph delivery performance using the JDE open order report. Identify and execute saving projects in sufficient quantities to support Company objectives. Ensure that risk and cost exposure to the Company is minimized or eliminated with the use of approved contractual instruments.
Ability to handle most complex component/commodity purchases for production material, service material, and MRO items. Generally, high number of SKU’s and/or Suppliers but medium dollar expenditure and risk. Ability to provide excellent customer service in a genuine, professional, courteous manner while dealing with vendors and customers (internal and external) and ensure best possible outcomes for the company in the long term.
Proficient in use of computers including report retrieval and data analysis. Basic skills with Microsoft Office programs are essential. Ability to work overtime, under pressure, under short deadlines, and weekends/holidays as required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred.
~5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years of supply chain (purchasing, scheduling etc.) In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 5 years of supply chain (purchasing, scheduling, etc.) Professional supply chain certification or working towards (CPIM, CPSM, etc).

Use of standard office equipment, frequent sitting, walking through manufacturing plant with use of stairs. Have the able to lift 50 pounds and organize permanent file records. Minimal business travel to key Suppliers is occasionally required.
