The successful candidate will play a key role in driving matters forward — bringing structure and consistency to employment‑related workflows and enabling the team’s ability to focus on strategic priorities.

Provide employment law advice and counseling to our People team and other stakeholders in North America on a broad range of issues, including recruiting, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, wage and hour, terminations, internal investigations, compensation, workplace harassment, benefits, privacy, immigration, and employee classification.

Draft, revise, and advise on employment‑related documents, including offer letters, separation agreements, and commission and bonus plans, as well as summaries, draft communications, templates, and other supporting materials for review.

Manage employment‑related projects, including process reviews and the creation, implementation, and continual improvement of policies and procedures, including helping to build foundational processes amidst evolving systems and workflows.

Create, update, and provide training programs on various employment law topics, optimized ways of working, and cross‑functional up‑skilling.

Provide foundational support regarding employment‑related litigation, claims, charges, investigations, audits, and subpoenas.

Support the use of data and matter tracking to identify trends, generate insights, and inform data‑driven decision making with respect to employment matters.

Monitor employment law‑related legislation, regulations, legal developments, and government oversight activities that may affect the Company in North America.

6+ years of employment law experience working for an internationally / nationally recognized firm, or in combination with in‑house experience.

Law degree from an accredited law school.

Admitted to practice in New York or the ability to register as In‑House Counsel in New York.

International employment law experience a plus.

Able to work effectively and collaboratively, with a high level of personal interaction in the office, across functions with a practical, solution‑oriented mindset.

Exhibit excellent judgment, superior leadership, and strong problem‑solving skills, and can proactively spot risk and deliver practical solutions.

Effective communicator who can explain complex legal concepts to non‑lawyers and provide practical legal advice.

Comfortable operating in ambiguity and delving into detail, including hands‑on drafting, organization, and follow‑through and able to push work forward amidst uncertainty.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock‑based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. Expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401(k) plan and company match, short and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well‑being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full‑time employees up to 120 hours through the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.
