Senior Certified Medical AssistantThe Senior Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or advanced practice provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting. Acts as a leader to help drive quality care and a mentor for professional practice. The location is 11140 West Colonial Drive, Suite 1, Ocoee, FL 34761 The hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.ResponsibilitiesAccountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activitiesSupports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family membersWorks collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.Gathers patient data through interview and observation.Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.Enters medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider.Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.Assists the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.Helps develop and coordinate the orientation process in the assigned practice for Medical Assistants.Acts as preceptor and/or oversees assigned preceptor(s) in collaboration with nursing/clinical leadership and corporate Learning Consultant.Supports and helps develop quality strategies within the practice.Helps to facilitate and participate in the skills portion of the Annual Clinical Review for Medical Assistants.Collaborates with the clinical leadership and education to assess ongoing competence of Medical Assistants.Leads and participates in departmental committees and special projects.Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and have the ability to assess data appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients on his or her assigned department and/or unit.Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights and compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.Assists business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent.Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
