Reports To: Operations Manager or Project Manager

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. with occasional weekend work for make-up time and night shifts for certain construction activities.

Cashman Preload Cryogenics (CPC) is a premier designer and constructor of refrigerated gas storage tanks and facilities. CPC specializes in precast, prestressed concrete technology for these storage tanks. CPC focuses on the North American and Caribbean markets and has completed projects worldwide.

The Field Engineer, Construction supports project execution from detailed engineering and procurement through field construction and closeout. Working closely with the Operations or Project Manager and the superintendent, the Field Engineer helps turn approved project requirements into coordinated work, timely materials and accurate field records.

This is an early-career construction role with responsibility for following through on assigned scopes under the direction of project leadership. The role is based on an active construction site, including project assignments in Gibbstown and Vineland, NJ. Travel and extended project assignments are required as needed.

Take ownership of assigned construction scopes by reviewing the contract, drawings, specifications and division of responsibility, and identify scope boundaries, interfaces, exclusions and open questions with the project team.

Use InEight Document to maintain and distribute current approved drawings, specifications, submittals and field clarifications, and keep superseded documents out of active use.

Prepare work packages, quantity takeoffs and material requirements, and review constructability, access, equipment needs and work interfaces with the superintendent.

Support short-term lookaheads and detailed work sequencing against the approved project schedule, and coordinate upcoming activities with the superintendent, subcontractors and field personnel.

Prepare and track requests for information and engineering clarifications, route proposed deviations and field changes to authorized personnel, and communicate approved resolutions to the field team.

Prepare material requisitions and requests for quotation, compare vendor quotations for scope, quantities, specification compliance, exclusions, delivery and cost, and document recommendations for review.

Resolve technical questions, substitutions and deviations with engineering and project leadership before orders are placed, and issue purchases only within written delegated purchasing authority.

Maintain procurement and material logs showing approval status, lead times, promised delivery dates and required-on-site dates, and flag shortages or late deliveries early.

Coordinate receiving records, quantity checks, storage and material traceability, and work with procurement and QA/QC to collect material test reports, certificates and other required records.

Prepare factual daily reports covering manpower, man-hours, installed quantities, equipment usage, work completed, delivery status, constraints and progress photographs.

Track quantities and productivity against planned work and the approved schedule, and give project leadership accurate field information for schedule updates, forecasts and corrective action.

Identify potential scope, cost or schedule changes promptly and maintain the supporting records for review by the project team.

Coordinate day-to-day subcontractor interfaces with the superintendent, document progress and open issues, and escalate conflicts that require management decisions.

Follow site safety requirements, take part in planning and safety discussions, and stop work and raise concerns when an unsafe condition is observed.

Coordinate inspection and testing needs with QA/QC, welding inspectors and construction supervision, plan work around hold points, and obtain release from authorized quality personnel before affected work proceeds.

Maintain field redlines and as-built information, assist with punch-list completion, and compile construction and quality records for turnover.

Leave design approvals, inspection acceptance, hold-point release and changes to contractual scope or price with the personnel authorized for those decisions.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related field. Civil, mechanical or chemical engineering backgrounds are preferred.

Entry-level and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply. Relevant internships, co-ops or up to three years of construction or field engineering experience are preferred, particularly on industrial, tank, concrete, steel or piping projects.

Ability to read construction drawings and specifications, prepare quantity takeoffs and organize material and field records.

Clear written and verbal communication, effective teamwork with craft personnel and subcontractors, and the ability to adapt to changing field priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams, and willingness to learn InEight Document. Familiarity with Bluebeam and construction scheduling software is desirable.

OSHA 30-hour Construction training, or completion of it on a timeline set by CPC.

Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work outdoors in heat, cold, wind and precipitation, near heavy equipment, noise and vibration.

Stand and walk for much of the shift on uneven or wet surfaces.

Carry tools or materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

Read drawings, record measurements and use computers or tablets.

Active construction sites, including project assignments in Gibbstown and Vineland, NJ.

Required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, protective clothing and, when required, a safety harness, respirator or Type III personal flotation device.

Work at height or in confined spaces only with required training, authorization and protective measures.

Full-time, exempt, on-site position.

Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) when required for the project.

Successful completion of company background-check and project drug-screening requirements.
