Operations Supervisor | Central Transport

The Tone: This is a full-time role at Central Transport, working in-person at one of our terminal locations. Central Transport is a privately owned LTL (Less-than-Truckload) carrier with almost 90 years of experience, known for its reliability and advanced technology in servicing manufacturing and retail companies nationwide. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our terminal docks, directly impacting our commitment to continuous expansion and providing immediate, essential services to our wide network of clientele.

Pay: $60000–$75000 yearly, plus up to 10% in bonuses

Team: Leads and oversees up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel within a designated terminal section.

Mission: Oversee terminal dock operations to achieve production schedules, meet KPI goals, and maintain high standards of service and safety for internal and external customers.

What You’ll Actually Do

Supervise: Direct all activities within a designated terminal dock section, including freight loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking and sortation of palletized freight.

Manage: Lead a team of up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to consistently achieve established production schedules.

Plan: Utilize independent judgment to strategically build loads, optimizing trailer cube and weight based on available labor and current freight levels.

Monitor: Track dock production and facility Key Performance Indicators to ensure goals are consistently met or exceeded, while also managing hours and overtime.

Ensure: Uphold a safe work environment in full compliance with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards and maintain adherence to company operational models.

The Must-Haves

Background: Manager-level experience in a transportation, cross-docking, or shipping and receiving environment. An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.

Experience: Demonstrated ability to oversee operational processes, manage personnel (including drivers and dock staff), and optimize freight movement within a logistics setting.

Skills: Strong leadership qualities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a high aptitude for technology, and the ability to multi-task effectively while maintaining strong attention to detail. A desire to ensure customer service excellence is also essential.

Bonus: An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree. Direct experience in the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry.
