We have an opening for a Videographer. This role will be based out of our warehouse in NW Portland, with regular travel to store locations and off-site events.
The Videographer is responsible for planning, capturing, and editing engaging video content that showcases our books, booksellers, customers, and events. The role requires a passion for storytelling, a strong eye for visual composition, and an understanding of how to create content that performs across multiple digital platforms. The Videographer works closely with teams across the organization to capture authentic moments and create compelling visual stories that connect readers with the Powell's experience.

Pay: $19.75 per hour, or more, depending on experience.
Schedule: The regular schedule will be 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri, with frequent need to work evening and weekend hours to capture event content.

Position Summary:
The Videographer is responsible for planning, capturing, and editing engaging video content that showcases our books, booksellers, customers, and events. The role requires a passion for storytelling, a strong eye for visual composition, and an understanding of how to create content that performs across multiple digital platforms. The Videographer works closely with teams across the organization to capture authentic moments and create compelling visual stories that connect readers with the Powell's experience. This position is part of the marketing team and reports to the Director of E-Commerce Digital.

Essential Functions:
Plan, capture, and edit high-quality video content that showcases our unique stores, our booksellers, curation, and events.
Develop and pitch original content ideas that showcase the unique personality of the stores and inspire customers to discover new books and experiences.
Develop and manage a calendar of partnership and offsite events.
Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events through various channels.
Work on-site during events to oversee execution and troubleshoot any issues.
Travel regularly to Powell's store locations, author events, community partnerships, and other off-site locations to capture engaging content.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support video and photography needs. Able to work off a creative brief.
Create video content with an understanding of the unique strengths and best practices of platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Powells.com, adapting content format and style to maximize engagement across channels.
Capture photography as needed to support marketing, editorial, and promotional initiatives. This may include bookshelf displays, rare books, gifts & logo merch, and general store photography.
Organize and maintain video and photography assets for future use.
Deliver polished video assets to the Marketing and Digital teams for distribution across digital platforms.
Ensure all visual content reflects the Powell's brand, mission, and commitment to creating exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience producing and editing professional-quality video.
• Strong visual storytelling skills with an eye for composition, lighting, pacing, and audio.
• Demonstrated understanding of how to create compelling content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, websites, and emerging digital platforms.
• Proficiency with video editing software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly between store locations and off-site events.
• Flexible and adaptable; willing to work non-traditional hours as needed.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Current OR or WA driver's license required.
• Must have and maintain a driving record that is compatible with company standards.
• Passion for books, reading, and creating authentic stories that connect with audiences.
