As a versatile Medical/Surgical Oncology RN, you'll leverage your broad expertise to deliver exceptional patient care across diverse medical conditions, with a subspecialty in cancer care and surgical procedures. This is a full-time night shift position. Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Practice
Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes.
Collaborates with the health care team to promote positive patient outcomes.
Acts as a patient advocate.
Ensures timely implementation of nursing interventions.
Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care.
Uses sound clinical judgment and critical thinking to assess, analyze, and communicate patient information.
Accurately and promptly documents all patient assessments, interventions, patient responses, and provider communications.
Patient Safety
Assesses patient safety risk factors and identifies patients requiring specific safety interventions (e.g., skin integrity, fall risk, appropriate use of restraints).
Follows medication safety policies.
Initiates appropriate safety interventions promptly.
Completes Safety Tracking Tools as required.
Delegation & Supervision
Supervises assigned staff and delegates tasks appropriately.
Takes responsibility for all care provided to assigned patients.
Reports performance issues of team members to ensure safe, appropriate patient care.
Patient & Family Education
Assesses the educational needs of patients and families.
Provides appropriate verbal and written education.
Documents assessments and all education provided.
Provider Orders & Clinical Workflow
Conducts ongoing review, initiation, and implementation of provider orders every shift.
Prioritizes responsibilities based on urgency and patient needs.
Uses appropriate resources, problem-solves independently, multitasks efficiently, and demonstrates effective time-management skills.
Professional Accountability & Development
Seeks additional clinical experiences to enhance knowledge and competency.
Actively assists coworkers and accepts additional duties or assignments.
Completes required education and annual competencies in a timely manner.
Participates in unit-based councils and performance-improvement initiatives.
Identifies unit needs and collaborates to help facilitate solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year as a nurse
ACLS preferred at hire or within 90 days of hire
EPIC preferred
Credentials
RN - Registered Nurse
BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
NIH - Stroke Certification
Education
~ Graduate of an accredited nursing school
