Direct Support Professional/Caregiver Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Direct Support Professional who is aligned with our mission and has empathy for our unique client population. We seek an organized, detail-oriented and positive leader who is comfortable working in an ever changing, fast-paced startup-like environment. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will work as part of a team to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Springfield area. At Rise & Shine, DSPs support clients with living meaningful and rewarding lives. FLSA Status: Non-exempt, hourly

Support clients with daily living activities, such as personal care and health management, communication, achieving personal and educational goals, meal planning and preparation, shopping, housekeeping, basic home maintenance and safety, home management, financial management, community involvement, developing meaningful connections, and decision making.

Advocate for the rights of the people we support.

Assist with creating Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs).

Administer medication to clients requiring such support.

Adhere to Individual Support Plans and Behavioral Support Plans that have been formulated to support clients’ safety and wellbeing, particularly as it applies to violent behaviors.

Attend all team meetings and training as required.

Must have High School Diploma or G.Must possess basic computer skills and be able to complete documentation electronically.

Must be able to remain awake and alert while on shift.

Must be flexible to work at different locations depending on where there is need for additional support during their weekly schedule.
