Cardiac Sonographer, Echo Lab

The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer II (DCS II) is proficient in providing high quality cardiac ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels, assessment of myocardial function, recording of hemodynamic measurements, and visualization of blood flow using 2D, M-mode, color‑flow and spectral Doppler. The DCS II performs Stress Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echo, and assists with Transesophageal Echocardiograms. The DCS II establishes peripheral intravenous access and administers Ultrasound Enhancing Agents according to established protocol and standing medical order (SMO). The DCS II retrieves, communicates and presents information in a written, oral or visual fashion. The DCS II functions as a preceptor to staff and students and assists daily with patient scheduling and procedures to ensure efficient workflow.

Education: GED or graduation from a CAHEP accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer program.

Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (or Reg Cardiac Sonographer) through ARDMS or CCI with a second registry and at least one of: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), Registered Pediatric Echocardiography technologist, or Certified Cardiographic Technologist; Reg Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (or Reg Cardiac Sonographer) through ARDMS or CCI with five years of experience.

Work Experience:

Three years of hospital experience preferred; three years of experience and two certifications, or five years of hospital experience preferred and one certification.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 06:45‑15:15, one Saturday shift every 6 weeks, off Sundays, no on‑call.

Equipment Operated: Various ultrasound and cardiology related machines.
