Job Description

Position Summary

The Chemist I conducts testing activities under the supervision of the Department Manager/Supervisor, following all applicable company and regulatory guidelines to meet turnaround times for monograph testing, unknown/failure analysis, and other tasks.

Authority

The Chemist I is responsible to the Department Manager/Supervisor, authorized to take necessary actions to fulfill duties, identify deviations from quality systems, and ensure compliance with established procedures and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform testing activities as directed, adhering to all guidelines.

Monitor backlog and plan testing schedules to meet turnaround times.

Utilize wet chemistry techniques including gravimetry, titrimetry, and colorimetry.

Operate instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, ICP, ICP-MS, IC.

Maintain accurate records and enter data into LIMS, monitor QC.

Review and approve analytical data.

Record environmental conditions, perform equipment calibrations, maintain glassware and chemical inventories.

Support documentation, quality system improvements, and internal audits.

Maintain punctuality and safety in all activities.

Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

B.S. in Chemistry or related field.

Experience with HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry preferred.

Knowledge of ISO 17025, DEA, EPA, FDA guidelines.
