Full Time Investigator
DGS Office of External Affairs
The Investigator (Human Rights Specialist 1 Spanish Language) conducts field and office investigations for New York's Division of Human Rights to combat discrimination and promote inter-group relationships. The role involves investigating complaints, interviewing parties, preparing reports, and assisting communities in understanding civil rights law through training and outreach. This is a full-time permanent position based in Albany, with Spanish language proficiency required at Level 3.
Key qualifications: Six years of field investigation, law enforcement investigation, or human rights/civil rights program experience; or equivalent combination
Ability to conduct discrimination or labor relations investigations and prepare detailed narrative reports
Spanish language proficiency at Level 3 required
Associate degree substitutes for two years of experience; Bachelor's degree for four years; Master's degree for five years
Experience in developing investigation plans and making recommendations on human rights violation determinations
