Key Responsibilities
Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care on a Neurosurgical unit, including patients with stroke, seizures, MS, and other neurological diagnoses or post-neurosurgery conditions.
Maintain professional accountability for the provision of patient care for assigned patients with a 1:5–6 patient ratio.
Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments.
Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable standards.
Float within scope of practice as needed.
Demonstrate willingness to serve in an occasional charge nurse capacity as required.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 1 year of inpatient acute care experience in Medical Surgical and/or Neuroscience nursing required.
Current BLS certification required.
Current NIHSS certification required.
Proficiency with EPIC EMR.
Must complete an on-site FIT test; willingness to comply with this requirement is mandatory.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior charge nurse experience is helpful but not required.
Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care delivery.
