Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 36-hour/week night shift position at a Level I Trauma center requiring 2+ years ICU experience and MT or compact RN licensure.
Details

Comprehensive Adult ICU with 28 MICU and 10 SICU beds, averaging 26 patients/day
Patient population includes general medical ICU, neuro, cardiovascular, and post-op complication cases, as well as Level I Trauma
Patient ratios typically 1:2-3, with occasional co-managed care ratios of 1 ICU RN/1 Non-ICU RN to 3-5 patients
Night shift schedule, 7P-7:30A, 36 hours per week
Weekend rotation of up to 4 weekends in an 8-week schedule
No on-call requirements
Routine floating between MICU and SICU, with possible floats to CVU, Intermediate Care, and MedSurg at a 1:3-4 ratio
Uses Cerner EMR (highly preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
Unit-specific equipment includes Stryker beds, Neuroptics pupillometry, Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, Philips Sonosite ultrasound, PrismaFlex CRRT, Impella, and Arrow IABP
Requirements

Active RN license (MT or Compact) required
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
CCRN certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
Skills required include neuro checks, cardiac rhythm interpretation, art lines, post-cardiac arrest care, ventilator management, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, trach care, code response, critical drip titration, foley and NG tube insertion/care, and IV insertion
On-site competency check-off required for CRRT, ECMO, and ultrasound-guided IV placement
Strong teamwork, professionalism, and punctuality required
Additional Information

Provide direct patient care to a complex, high-acuity ICU population including trauma, neuro, cardiovascular, and general medical cases
Support team includes CNAs, part-time HUC, charge nurse/CPR captain, 24/7 RT, hospitalist and intensivist coverage, MD/DNP/PA residents, tele clerk, on-unit pharmacist, PT/OT/SLP, and nursing leadership
Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 1-2 precepted unit orientation shifts, with additional check-off required for higher acuity equipment
Will attempt to group night shifts together, with no more than 4 consecutive nights scheduled
RNs working both day and night shifts will not be scheduled a day shift within 48 hours of a night shift
Schedules are made in 8-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to the start date
Shift trades permitted if hospital guidelines are followed and coverage is confirmed
Holiday rotation coverage may be required
RTO requests must be approved through the manager, with contract hours required to be fulfilled
Scrubs must be a solid color with no graphics, logos, designs, denim, or camo
