Responsibilities
Provides quality nutrition counseling to WIC participants. Accurately obtains participant information for WIC program certification. Completes Medical and Nutrition Assessments for all low, high and medically high-risk WIC clients. Obtains accurate data on anthropometric and hematological measurements and monitors accuracy of growth grids and measurement techniques. Provides VENA-based client-centered nutrition assessment, counseling and breastfeeding education using appropriate educational materials. Develops a Nutrition Care Plan for identified high risks and completes the Nutrition Education screen. Assesses client readiness to change and helps choose appropriate SMART goals. Inputs accurate food package and nutrition services codes, handles receipt of exempt formula, distributes per local procedures, promotes breastfeeding, distributes breast pumps, refers to peer counselors and the Lactation Consultant. Loads benefits onto the WIC EBT account as needed. Refers clients for appropriate health and social services and documents in the client record. Establishes subsequent individual nutrition education contacts. Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for referred Healthy Start Participants according to contract guidelines. Maintains client confidentiality and security per DOHP 50-10-10 Information Security & Privacy Policy.

General Administrative
Learns and utilizes FL WiSE and other computer systems. Maintains records and reports of work performed. Completes and submits time sheets, employee activity reports, and travel correctly, timely, and per guidelines. Participates in agency and WIC team meetings. Conducts quarterly instruction on WIC newsletter campaigns, maintains attendance, client tally sheets, and educational bulletin boards. Performs monthly inventory reports. Participates in quality assurance reviews including chart reviews, vendor monitoring, and report responses. Performs WIC outreach activities and travels to other worksites as needed. Communicates with physicians and clients via telephone and keeps frequent communication with supervisor. Maintains licensure requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of nutrition/dietetics science and current practice; understanding of growth, development, health or disease, dietary assessment techniques. Ability to analyze/interprets anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary data. Ability to interview and counsel patients. Determining work priorities and ensuring proper completion. Effective communication and establishing working relationships. Understanding and application of rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications
State of Florida DBPR: Licensed Dietitian; Chapter 468, Part X. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD/N). Minimum of 2 years of client counseling experience as a Nutritionist/Dietitian. Valid driver's license and private transportation required. Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours for special events or emergencies. Skilled in using personal computers. Ability to maintain 100% client confidentiality. Willing to work on site. Current authorization to work in the US without sponsorship. Punctual and reliable.

Hours and Additional Requirements
Part-time position up to 29 hours per week. No paid time off. Requires background check or drug screening and participation in direct deposit. Must provide SSN for background check. Security background check may be required. Must be able to perform emergency duty beyond normal hours.
