Safety Manager

Overview

Safety Manager works closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to administer, direct, and implement compliance with Corporate Safety & Health policies and procedures on project sites. The role ensures the achievement of company standard operating procedures and safety goals, overseeing safety procedures at project-specific level or across multiple sites within a region or sector.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular site inspections, recording safe and unsafe conditions using Predictive Solutions software.

Perform administrative tasks related to project safety binders and document storage systems.

Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate subcontractor pre‑construction safety planning meetings.

Act as a resource for field operations on federal (OSHA), state, and local safety regulations including NFPA and JCAHO Standards.

Review subcontractors’ site‑specific safety programs and job hazard analyses prior to mobilization.

Attend and monitor subcontractor tool box talks to assure documentation and quality.

Perform accident investigations, including collection of safety incident reporting forms and documentation.

Coordinate with Regional Risk Managers on claim trends and proactive risk‑management planning.

Review subcontractor documentation for proper training of employees relative to scope of work.

Conduct training on OSHA 10 or 30‑hour, HAZWOPER, and other safety topics.

Qualifications

3–5 years of related work experience in construction health and safety.

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and building codes.

Bachelor’s degree in construction or safety preferred but not required.

Qualified OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainer.

Willingness to achieve CHST designation within two years.

Demonstrated expertise with construction and safety technologies and practices.

Willingness to provide best‑in‑class customer service.

Trained CPR instructor (training provided).

Completed required internal training with Learning and Development team.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong planning, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Collaborative and positive in directing people.

Capacity to coordinate efforts with field staff and external partners.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to make decisions promptly and with confidence.

Sound business judgment.

Highly organized, able to prioritize and multi‑task.

Ability to manage and embrace change, respond to new processes.

Working Conditions

The role requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching; fine motor skills with keyboard, telephone, or writing. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work occurs in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level, and on job sites where walking is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range: $100,000 – $141,000 USD.
