Electrician - Temporary (Night shift)

Summary These Electrician positions are located at Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Franscisco, CA. This is a Permanent, Full-time, Competitive appointment. Responsibilities At the full performance level (WG-10) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Locate distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices to trouble shoot electrical problems. Determine the proper and safe operation of electric lines, circuits, systems equipment and controls. Re-wire commercial and residential buildings, installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated. Additional Information A Recruitment Incentive May Be Authorized for a newly selected employee when appointed to a permanent, temporary, or term position. A Federal employee who is transferring to the National Park Service from another component, bureau or Federal agency and who does not meet the conditions under 5 CFR 575.102 is not eligible for a recruitment incentive. A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another. This position is required to perform electrical work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and other cramped and hard-to-reach places. The incumbent may be exposed to electrical shock, spark and arc hazard, and other health hazards. If the incumbent is assigned to perform electrical work in remote locations, the incumbent may be required to walk, hike, or drive over rough and uneven terrain. Working Conditions: Work is both indoors and outdoors. Work outside may be subject to extreme weather conditions, with wind, rain, snow, and ice, in temperatures ranging from below 0 to over 100 degrees. Depending on the geography of the park unit assigned, work may take place at elevations ranging from sea level up to 10,000 feet. The incumbent may be regularly exposed to dust, fogs, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, and vapors, as well as noise, vibration, cuts, and abrasions from the use of electrical tools and equipment and may occasionally be exposed to hazardous materials that can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation and burns, as well as microbiological organisms and potentially hazardous wildlife.
