Job Title: Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (Fri/Sat/Sun 21:00-09:30)
Experience: Two years in an inpatient healthcare setting
Certifications: Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist
Clinical laboratory testing

• Quality control
• Responsible for independently performing, interpreting, and correlating clinical laboratory tests to assist physician diagnosis and treatment.

Performs testing according to policies and procedures.
Provides clinical laboratory testing expertise, including problem solving.
Performs clinical laboratory testing including high and moderate complexity.
Communicates information, including critical test results, interpretation of testing, and status of workflow.
Manages quality of testing: performs quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, maintains reagent and supply inventory levels, documents work performed and corrective actions.
Actively participates in the quality assurance program.
Demonstrates clinical expertise: sets up equipment and instruments for laboratory testing, develops and reviews testing policies and procedures, evaluates and interprets validation studies and statistical analysis of testing.
Provides education: teaches and trains new employees and students, acts as a resource to other laboratory staff, and performs educational activities.
Common equipment used includes Abbott Alinity, Abbott Architect, ABL 90, Sysmex XN, ACL TOP, Iricell, Clinitek, and Ortho Vision.
