Respiratory Therapist - PRN
The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.

Qualifications

Education: A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.

Licenses / Certification

Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed.

Valid CPR certification.

Vent Certified, preferred.

Experience

One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long-term care setting.

Job Functions

Provides respiratory related services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope, including patient testing, data collection, and documentation.

Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts, including consults, recommendations, and conversations with physicians, staff, and families.

Assists the facility with regulatory issues, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored properly and documentation is maintained.

Handles routine mail, phone calls, pages, and completes necessary filing and faxing.

Communicates with facility staff about clinical and operational issues related to the program and patient care.

Assesses patients for respiratory needs, monitors oxygen saturation, pulse oximetry, and cares for ventilator patients.

Completes treatment and ventilator checks promptly, notifying supervisors of facility concerns.

Completes TARs at month-end to verify accurate information.

Assesses for decannulation and weaning processes.

Participates in special projects and resolves routine problems, communicating solutions to appropriate personnel.
