Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering patient care services to residents and will function within the scope of practice according to the Mississippi State Board of Nursing. The LPN assists in evaluating and modifying resident care plans. The LPN collaborates with all clinical staff and providers, communicating patient care information to residents and their families.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for delivering patient care services as part of a health care team Assess resident needs, plans and modifies care, and implements interventionsEvaluates intervention outcomes in collaboration with other health care team membersPerforms and documents vital signs, basic resident care, and proceduresAdministers prescribed medications and starts intravenous fluids, observing, reporting, and documenting the effectiveness and changes in conditionsCollects specimens and performs routine laboratory testsMaintains and sterilizes lab equipment, procedural instruments, and suppliesPerforms additional nursing duties as assignedCommunicates resident healthcare needs to appropriate health care team or provider Assures daily accurate, concise reporting and documentation of resident condition and needsShares input from the resident and family with the appropriate healthcare team membersPromptly answers resident requests and addresses resident's needsReports significant events and situations to healthcare team membersProvides clinical supervision to Certified Nursing AssistantsFollows safety rules in all areas of resident care and ensures a safe resident environmentQualificationsRequired Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Licensure: Current MS LPN license or MS 90-day temporary permit, or Compact state LPN license. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact or educate residents. Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility. Knowledge of uses and operations of equipment and instruments used in patient care. Ability to interpret provider or healthcare team's orders and carry them out as requested. Must be resident/customer service oriented, projecting professionalism and socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.
