Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to pregnant and high-risk OB patients across Labor and Delivery, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries and cerclage placement
Titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Insulin per unit protocols
Circulate cesarean sections in the OR and recover patients in the PACU
Perform electronic fetal monitoring using Obix/Philips monitors and Epic Stork; Advanced AWHONN EFM certification required
Float to Postpartum (team of 5–6 patients) and Antepartum (up to 3 high-risk intermittent EFM patients) units as needed
Adhere to AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines, including 1:1 for Pitocin induction and active labor, and 1:1 PACU coverage
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
BLS certification required
NRP certification required
ACLS certification required
Advanced AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required
Must be proficient in care of high-risk OB patients, including Magnesium and Insulin drip management, cesarean section circulation, PACU recovery, and newborn care at both vaginal and cesarean delivery
Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience preferred
Experience in a Level 3 perinatal center or high-acuity OB environment
Familiarity with Epic Stork EHR and Obix/Philips fetal monitoring systems
