The Custodian is an important member of our school community and plays a key role in ensuring our classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and campus facilities are clean, well-maintained, and ready for daily use.Position Details: Title: Custodian Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Reports to: Head of School Schedule: Full-Time; 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm This role operates on an academic year schedule, with opportunities for additional hours during summer and holiday breaks based on organizational needs.High school diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to perform basic math calculationsKnowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures, and occupational hazards safety rulesBackground in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicalsAbility to walk, move, and perform repetitive motions for long periodsAbility to lift heavy objects, and climb laddersExperience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDuties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Custodian will:Keep the building and grounds clean and in an orderly conditionPerform routine maintenance across building and groundsPerform heavy cleaning dutiesSweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floorsGather and empty trashScrub, sanitize, and supply restroomsDust furniture, walls, and equipmentClean and polish windows, mirrors, and partitions with cleaning agentsMix cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning, according to instructionsFollow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixturesNotify the Director of Facilities regarding repairs or additions to building operating systemsInterested candidates are encouraged to learn more about Mason Preparatory School by visiting our website to explore our mission, programs, and community.
