Radiation Therapist

Under general supervision, responsible for assisting with the administration of targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiologist in the treatment cancer and other diseases.

Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection.

Develops and administers patient treatment plans using radiation therapy techniques and radiopharmaceuticals; Ensures proper application and safety techniques are used.

Checks machine alignment, lasers, interlocks, and beam/light field alignment and maintains daily records on machine; Associate's Degree and a graduate of AMA accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology Required.

It is important that therapists be comfortable interacting with people who may be going through physical and emotional stress.

Must be able to be on their feet for long periods and be able to lift and move patients who need assistance.

Works with computers and large pieces of technological equipment; AART American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

MRT Medical Radiologic Technologist Required.

Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
