Financial Advocate (Full Time)
Virtual Vocations Inc
To support patient financial planning, the full-time Financial Advocate will calculate personalized estimates of patient financial responsibilities, communicate payment options, and assist uninsured patients in applying for financial assistance, all while working remotely Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Key responsibilities
Calculates and provides patients with personalized estimates of their financial responsibility based on insurance coverage
Requests upfront payments and establishes payment arrangements for self-pay amounts and outstanding balances
Interviews uninsured patients to assess financial needs and coordinates applications for assistance programs
Required qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent (GED or HSED)
Typically requires 2 years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service
Solid knowledge of insurance benefits and basic medical coding
Ability to articulate explanations of HIPAA and EMTALA regulations
Understanding of billing, denials, and appeals processes related to various insurance types
