Job Summary The Phlebotomist provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care service to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons under direction of a physician or nurse in Medical Centers.

Gives direct patient care and performs indirect patient care activities and laboratory tests, under the direction of a physician or nurse.

Take appropriate action to maintain a safe and aesthetic environment.

Performs lab work as per physician orders and prepares instrumental equipment for sterilization.

Responsible for ordering medical supplies according to the department's needs.

Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures.

Checks equipment and supplies prior to use for function, inspection, and expiration date; reports malfunction of medical equipment and safety issues to supervisor.

Maintains quality control (i.e. Complies with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations (biomedical wastes, handling, and disposal) for the center as per regulations.

Follows medical center guidelines for isolation techniques.

Keeps patient’s information private and limits conversation of a personal nature in patient’s presence.].

Maintain a logging system for different procedures as required and enter nursing procedures and other information in the computer system.

Check medical records and follow up obtaining missing results prior to the patient's appointment.
