Details Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center hospital setting Staff Float Pool MedSurg position, with home unit assigned on first day of orientation May float to units including 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 5 North MedSurg/Oncology, 3 South Orthopedics, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology Patient ratios typically 1:4-6 depending on unit Patient populations include general surgery, vascular, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic, and urology cases 12-hour day shifts, 7:00A start, 36 hours per week Shift times available: 7a-7p and 7p-7a Weekend rotation required: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month No on-call requirement Floating required to like units (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task, ICU-ER/ICU holds) 4-week schedule cycle using Smart Square, no self-scheduling Cerner EMR used, EPIC experience also considered IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitors by Spacelabs Telemetry monitored by techs, but RNs required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours Support staff on unit includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and receptionist/HUC Requirements Active RN license (AL state or compact) required BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience required Cerner EMR experience required if candidate has strictly ICU experience; EPIC experience also accepted for MedSurg background Trauma or surgical experience required for certain units (e.g., wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills) Skills may include trach care, PEG/NGT, ostomy/colostomy care, wound vacs, central line blood draws, and PCA pump management depending on unit Chemotherapy certification preferred for oncology unit assignments Former Baptist staff must wait 6 months from last shift before returning as a traveler Additional Information Provide direct patient care including turning, bathing, and ADL assistance in lower-ratio units 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours of unit orientation for new or returning travelers gone 1 years Rehire orientation length depends on last date worked at facility One major and one minor seasonal holiday coverage expected per policy, though not automatically scheduled Approval of up to 7 days off can be granted excluding facility blackout dates Scrub color: any Parking available in deck, levels 2-4, free of charge First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible American Traveler Job ID P-748883.
