The INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA business is a major participant in the North American chemical industry, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 9.6 billion pounds of petrochemicals. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (La Porte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a corporate office in League City, TX. The successful candidate could work as a key member of the Maintenance, Technology, or Reliability Teams providing day-to-day technical support, completing small design projects for repair and/or replacement of mechanical equipment, and serving on teams to address mechanical equipment reliability, safety, and design initiatives.
Day-to-day interface with operations, maintenance, technology, reliability team, inspection, purchasing, and construction personnel to troubleshoot, optimize and ensure safe and reliable operations.
Project activities include scoping and prioritization, preliminary and detailed mechanical piping, equipment, and structural designs, start-up support, post audit evaluations and completion of proper documentation. This will require the ability to learn how to use codes and specification, working with CAD and piping designers, Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change process., Perform Reliability Engineering functions such as Equipment maintenance plan optimization, root cause failure analysis, reliability data analysis, and bad actor troubleshooting.
Effectively communicate to Operations, Maintenance, and Inspection teams regarding reliability strategies, plant strategies/performance measures and asset objectives/goals.
Participate in safety studies such as HAZOP studies, Process Hazard analysis (PHA), and drive the Management of Change (MOC) process.
Issue mechanical packages for improvements, changes, or repairs to equipment (e.g., boilers, furnaces, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, compressors, extruders, etc.).
Serve as lead engineer for the implementation of small project and expense jobs.
Serve as a supporting engineer during turnarounds.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university by December 2026 or May 2027
~Plant experience during cooperative education or summer internships is preferred.
Knowledge of process equipment including pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessels, fired equipment, exchangers, and relief valves.
Strong basic engineering skills with knowledge of process equipment including pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessels, fired equipment, exchangers, and relief valves.
Ability to be innovative and to apply technical skills to improve safety and quality, reduce costs, and increase production.
